- Change To Kids Program
- We have been struggling to rebuild the kids program since Covid and before that the Infinity split. Before the split we had around 65-kids and before Covid we had about 40-kids. The hardest to rebuild has been the little ones, The Pandas, and although we have been getting some in the door we have not been able to keep them and grow. The last cancelation as with many others have always praised the coaching staff.
- So moving forward I am dropping the Pandas BJJ and MMA from our program. I am replacing the MMA with Muay Thai Kickboxing, which really does not change the kids ability to learn MMA, as they will still be able to combine the skills from both disciplines. Kids will be able to train in either disciplines or both disciplines, as we will not be combining BJJ with our striking.
- Step 1: Starting this week the Pandas class is gone, and the MMA class is now the Kickboxing class, the current timetable will remain in place for the next school term.
- Step 3: Train the coaches to run the Muay Thai Kickboxing classes. I have written a program over the weekend that I will continue to develop and teach over the next school term. The program consists of 36 technical skills, and 3 x basic training drills, combined with Pad Rounds, Sparring and Warm Up to make the lesson.
- Step 4: Implement a new kids timetable after the June / July school holidays, which will take the Muay Thai Kickboxing to 6-days per week.
- Step 5: Continue to develop the kids programs. I am considering if I will run gradings for the Muay Thai Kickboxing. We used to run gradings for the adults many years ago, and I do see many reasons why we should run gradings for the kids, but I need to put some more thought into it before launching.
