Warm Up (5min)
- Line Drill
- Technical Standup
- Partner Drill
- Collar-Sleeve Control
Lesson (30min)
Tripod Sweep – Standard Variation
- Start in collar-sleeve guard
- Tilt to your sleeve-grip side and catch behind one of uke’s ankles
- Sit your hip next to your ankle grip and place your ‘same side’ foot on uke’s hip
- Block uke’s far side leg from behind using the shoelaces of your other foot
- You have the option of blocking behind the knee (more stability) or the foot (more leverage)
- Lift uke’s ankle off the ground to knock them down
- Keep your cross-collar grip until the very end
Tripod Sweep – Reverse Variation
- Start in the tripod sweep position
- Uke steps back to stop your shoelaces from connecting behind their far-side leg
- Switch your hips towards uke
- Sit your hip next to your ankle grip and place your top foot on uke’s hip
- Reap uke’s far side foot from behind using the sole of your other foot to knock them down
- Keep your cross-collar grip until the very end
Double-Seated Control
- Start in collar-sleeve guard and execute a tripod sweep (standard or reverse)
- Once uke has been knocked down, switch to a gi pants grip on uke’s legs
- If you keep your grips on uke’s upper body, they will be able to use their legs to get up
- As uke tries to heist up (technical standup), elevate their leg to keep their hips from rising
- Stabilise the position, not letting uke scoot away or heist up
Positional Rounds
Double-Seated – Sweep/Recover
- Start in collar-sleeve guard. The bottom player should use a tripod sweep (standard or reverse) to knock down the top player. The top player should let them do this WITHOUT RESISTING.
- As soon as the top player is knocked down, the round starts:
- The bottom player wins if they manage to take top position for 3 seconds
- The top player wins if they manage to recover top position for 3 seconds
