Sport
Build resilience, character, and sportsmanship.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is not just a style of Martial Arts is is also a sport, we encourage the kids to give BJJ competition a go.
BJJ Competition is a great way for the kids to test their skills, but more importantly it is a great way for them to build resilience, character, and sportsmanship.
Kickboxing and Muay Thai
Kickboxing and Muay Thai is also a sport, however we do not encourage kids to compete as we wish to limit head contact at such young ages. It is possible for kids to compete in MMA which combines BJJ & Kickboxing under the IMMAF (International Mixed Martial Arts Federation) rules for youth competition, the IMMAF rules do not allow strikes to the head.
If MMA competition is something that your child and yourself are interested in please talk to Marcus about this.
Helping To Mould Strong, Confidant Youth
Training at SASSOM is about social interaction.
We understand that this age group is vulnerable to external peer pressure and negative social environments. We help combat this with confidence, respect, and positive attitude. We encourage kids to building a strong work ethic in training and also in school.
Transitioning to Adult Classes
There is no rush, no pressure.
When children start to mature between the ages of 13-16 they have the option to trial the adults classes, most do this during their school holidays.
- Make the transition to adult classes when they, and you the parent feel comfortable
- There is no rush or pressure (we will encourage when we think the time is right) to move to the adults classes
We have had a young lady have her 17th birthday while still training in the Kids Classes, and a few months later she made the change to the adults classes. To access a Free Trial: Click Here
