Thai Plum / Leg Hook Take Down
Warm Up – 5min
- Line Drills
- 10 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats
- Punch Drill
Striking Development Lesson – 15min:
- Basic Footwork: Step Out & Drop Step (Stephen Whittier)
- Collar Tie / Thai Plum

- Different from video:
- Call a single grip a Collar Tie
- Call a double grip a Thai Plum or Thai Clinch
- Essential Detail: Hand on the crown of the head
- Most Common Mistake: Too much space between you and your partner
- Safety Tip: Don’t pull too hard on the head or neck during training
- Drill Orders:
- Practice the Collar Tie with inside Bicep Control
- Practice moving from Inside Bicep Control to the Thai Plum / Thai Clinch
- Practice moving your partner around with the above controls

- Control The Inside Position
- Different from video:
- Change elbow strikes for punches / hooks as we are not teaching kids elbows
- Most Common Mistake: Poor grip on their elbows
- Safety Tip: Don’t pull too hard on the head or neck during training
- Drill Orders:
- Practice elbow control from Inside Bicep Control
- Practice elbow control from the Thai Plum / Thai Clinch
- Practice moving controlling your partners elbows to stop punches / hooks while moving around with the above controls
- Different from video:
- Under Hook and Over Hook
- Drill Orders:
- Practice the single Under & Over Hook
- Practice the double Under Hook
- Practice the Hip Block when partner has the Thai Plum / Thai Clinch
- Drill Orders:
BJJ Development Lesson – 10min:
Leg Hook Takedown, this is how to take the bully down
- Indicator: Bully maintains a wide base when you establish the clinch.
- Essential Detail: Effective leg hook and body drive.
- Most Common Mistake: Failing to put hands out for base prior to fall.
- Safety Tip: If the child forgets to release their hands, makes sure not to crush them.
- Teaching Tip: Make your base stronger and stronger with each repetition.
- Drill Order:
- Practice the body lock control first
- Practice the Leg Hook Takedown second
Noodle Work – 5min:
- 1min Rounds they will hold for each other. (Instructors need to teach them how to hold)
Sparring – 10min:
- 4 x 2min Rounds, MMA
