Lesson 25
Kicks to Knees & Take The Back (Guard)
Warm Up – 5min
- 2min Skipping
- 10 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats
- Punch Drill
Striking Development Lesson – 10min:
- Basic Footwork: Circle & L Step (Stephen Whittier)
- Kicks To Knees (Duane Ludwig)
- Note:
- I use the names of the strikes rather than a numbered system, Duane uses a numbered system that is very specific to his Bang Muay Thai system.
- I reach across to my partners opposite shoulder with the same hand of the knee I am throwing, this is a good way to protect your chin, and also you can pull them in if desired.
- Essential Detail: Throw the opposite knee to the last kick
- Most Common Mistake: Dropping hands when doing the knee
- Drill Orders: Practice with gloves rather than Thai Pads, use a single round kick followed by a single knee, then progress into combos, throw the opposite kick to the last punch then finish with the opposite knee.
BJJ Development Lesson – 10min

- Transfer Teaching Tip: Increase the weight of the forearm choke as their defensive leg use gets better.
