Face Push & X Frame and Kimura Armlock

Warm Up – 5min

  • Line Drills
  • 10 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats
  • Shadow Sparring

Striking Development Lesson  – 10min:

  • Basic Footwork: Gallop Step (Stephen Whittier)
  • Clinch – Face Push & X Frame
    • Note:
    • The first part where you arm goes in front of their head can sometimes be used to push their face away so you can break from the clinch.
    • Essential Detail: Use only when your partner has a strong collar tie
    • Most Common Mistake: Not stepping around to creating an angle, before throwing knees
    • Drill Orders: Warm up by practicing some pummelling from the collar tie. Practice just the frame then add the angle, then add the knee strikes to the body only, but let them know the head is available for self defence or when the rules of the bout allow.

BJJ Development Lesson  – 10min

Kimura Armlock

  • Basic Application (Preparation Drill)
    • Essential Detail: Effective double wrist grab and 90-degree elbow bend.
    • Most Common Mistake: Failure to acquire the proper hip and body angle.
    • Safety Tip: Squeeze very slowly.
    • Transfer Teaching Tip: Make the arm control more and more challenging as the child gets better.
  • Forced Variation
    • Indicator: Bully exhausts their energy and remains stationary in Stage 1.
    • Essential Detail: Scoot hips to the side of the opponent’s head to facilitate the sit-up.
    • Most Common Mistake: Failure to use one hand to push the head aside.
    • Transfer Teaching Tip: Make your head heavier each time the child succeeds.

Partners exchange combos using gloves & shinnies

Sparring – 10min:
