Leg Kick / Americana Arm Lock
Warm Up – 5min
- Line Drills
- 10 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats
- Kick Drill
Striking Development Lesson – 10min:
- Basic Footwork: Foot Positioning & Distance Management (Don Madge)
- Leg Kick (Don Madge)
- Different from video:
- Use shin guard for practice on each other
- Use a kick shield to practice power, instructors can hold and line students up
- Step not skip/jump for beginners
- Essential Detail: Step across and turn lead foot out
- Most Common Mistake: Bad recovery after kick
- Partner Reminder: Allow leg to move if needed
- Safety Tip: Don’t kick too hard on Thai pads
- Drill Orders: Start as a partner drill then on the kick shield

BJJ Development Lesson – 10min:
- Americana Armlock is a highly effective submission that can be used with minimal effort to defeat a bully.
- Indicator: Bully uses both hands to protect from punches.
- Essential Detail: Effective hand positioning and solid monkey grip.
- Most Common Mistake: All lift without any slide.
- Safety Tip: Tap out when slight discomfort is felt in the shoulder.
- Transfer Teaching Tip: Check the legitimacy of the grip by slowly extending your arm.
Thai Pads – 5min:
- 1min Rounds they will hold for each other. (Instructors need to teach them how to hold)
Sparring – 10min:
- 1 x 2min Rounds, Hands Only
- 1 x 2min Rounds, Kicks Only
- 2 x 2min Rounds, BJJ Pass or Sweep
