Roll and Counter & Double Leg Takedown
Warm Up – 5min
- Line Drills
- 10 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats
- Punch Drill
Striking Development Lesson – 10min:
- Basic Footwork: Gallop or Step Up Step Out (Stephen Whittier)
- Roll & Counter (Duane Ludwig)
- Essential Detail: Keep hand up in a defensive position, covering the head
- Most Common Mistake: Leaning at the waist looking at the floor, instead bend the knees and look at the opponent
- Partner Reminder: Move with the fighter and at a pace the fighter can develop good technique
- Safety Tip: Don’t throw hard, fast or crazy head shots
- Drill Orders: Start each skill as a shadow skill then progress to partner drill, using just gloves, then noodles, then pads
BJJ Development Lesson – 10min:
- Double Leg Takedown
- Agressive Opponent
- Indicator: The bully tries to punch your face.
- Essential Detail: Solid leg control.
- Most Common Mistake: Head in between the giant’s legs.
- Safety Tip: When you are taken down, drop your hips first and protect your head.
- Transfer Teaching Tip: Walk back to check the legitimacy of the leg control.
- Conservative Opponent
- Indicator: Bully advances towards you conservatively.
- Essential Detail: Use a fake jab at their face to disguise your entry.
- Most Common Mistake: Weak leg control and body drive.
- Safety Tip: Be careful where you fall.
- Transfer Teaching Tip: Make your base stronger and stronger each time.
Noodles – 5min:
- 1min Rounds they will hold for each other. (Instructors need to teach them how to hold)
Sparring – 10min:
- 2 x 2min Rounds, Clinch & Knee
- 2 x 2min Rounds, Positional Escape
