Location
SASSOM MMA is only 3minutes from the CBD located on the Southside of Brisbane.
We are not far from the Southeast Freeway and Clem Jones Tunnel, which makes driving to SASSOM a breeze from any direction in Brisbane.
SASSOM is walking distance to Buranda Train Station and Woolloongabba Bus Interchange (soon to be the Woolloongabba Cross River Rail Station).
Founding Journey
Top quality service at an affordable price
SASSOM Fitness was started by Marcus Collings as a mobile Personal Training business working from different gyms and local parks.
After renting space in other gyms for a few years, Marcus found a new location in Woolloongabba.
The location was a rundown warehouse, but with a vision and a lot of hard work and some much needed help from friends & family SASSOM Fitness was reborn.
Marcus has always had a passion for & trained in Martial Arts so he joined his Martial Arts schools together with his fitness business and became SASSOM Fitness & MMA.
This was around the same point in time that Marcus’ now wife Karla started to help with the running of the business, and this has helped add that much needed female touch to SASSOM Fitness & MMA.

Opening
The new SASSOM Fitness & MMA was opened in February 2005 and since then has seen an expansion in floor space, equipment and staff.
This ever evolving business is committed to providing a top quality service at an affordable price.
We believe that no two people are the same, so everyone is assessed and treated as an individual.
The atmosphere at SASSOM Fitness & MMA is relaxed and friendly. We strive to give everyone a fun and functional training experience.
Expansion
Marcus relocated SASSOM Fitness & MMA to a new building in East Brisbane that would provide more space and even some car parks for the members.
This move gave the chance for the Martial Arts to have their own area for training and included a new Boxing Ring and MMA Cage.
The gym also had some new equipment and dedicated Olympic Lifting platforms.
This also gave us the ability to change to a 24/7 fitness facility.
Refitted & Facelift
In January 2017 Marcus refitted the 24/7 gym with new equipment, air-conditioning and a facelift.
This major change has seen a more diverse clientele training at SASSOM 24/7.
Our clients now enjoy, all major cable and plate machines, a large range of free weights, new olympic lifting bars and bumper plates, a large range of cardio machines, open mat stretching area, functional training area, and a boxing station for fun and fitness.
Fully Air-Conditioned
We air-conditioned the Martial Arts area which has made for a much more comfortable training environment.
Added Solar
With the whole gym now being air-conditioned we added solar to cut the power bill, and do our bit to help the environment.

You are never too inexperienced or too unfit for our gym.
We will teach you everything you need to achieve your goals, and if for some reason we can’t help you, we will let you know before we charge you anything.
SASSOM is a friendly gym with a community atmosphere, we all help each other to succeed. Drop in visits are welcome, and our staff will always be happy to help you. Drop in for a free trial ; there is no need to book for a class, just be sure to check the timetable for class times and staffed hours first.
