Pull Trip & Guillotine Defence
Warm Up – 5min
- 2min Skipping
- 10 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats
- Kick Drill
Striking Development Lesson – 10min:
- Basic Footwork: Step Out & Drop Step (Stephen Whittier)
- Clinch – Pull Trip (Matt Brown)
- Essential Detail: Thai trips take a lot of practice as they require good timing
- Most Common Mistake: Bad timing, you need to hit all elements together
- Drill Orders: Start from the 50/50 clinch practice the first move below, then progressively add each step, don’t rush, move on only when they can do the moves together.:
- Push under the armpit
- Pull the head
- Step out to the armpit side
- Block the foot on the head pull side
- Note the first 3 moves will need to be smooth before you add number 4.
- Practice from the 50/50 clinch pummel
- Practice moving forward and backward
BJJ Development Lesson – 10min
- Guillotine Defence
- Indicator: Bully catches you in a Guillotine Choke while standing.
- Essential Detail: Move to the side opposite of the choke.
- Most Common Mistake: Weak leg hook body drive.
- Safety Tip: Control your fall to protect the child’s neck by using one hand to base out.
- Transfer Teaching Tip: Make your base stronger to challenge the takedown over time.
Thai Pad – 5min:
- 1min Rounds they will hold for each other. (Instructors need to teach them how to hold)
Sparring – 10min:
- 2 x 2min Rounds, General Striking (no head contact)
- 2 x 2min Rounds, General BJJ
