Lead Round Kick Body/Head & Hook Sweep
Warm Up – 5min
- Line Drills
- 10 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats
- Kick Drill
Striking Development Lesson – 10min:
- Basic Footwork: Foot Positioning Drill (Don Madge)
- Kick – Lead Round Body & Head Kick
- Essential Detail: Make sure to rotate the hip and the shoulder
- Most Common Mistake: Dropping the rear hand
- Drill Orders: Start with the footwork, followed with the kick – use the kick shields if the kids have trouble controlling the kick
BJJ Development Lesson – 10min
- Hook Sweep
- Indicator: Bully stands with one leg forward in Stage 4 of the Punch Block Series.
- Essential Detail: Kick the hips back while pulling the foot.
- Most Common Mistake: Weak inside knee hook with the opposite foot.
- Safety Tip: Avoid squatting straight down during the sweep to minimise the foot crush.
- Transfer Teaching Tip: Increase your base as the child’s sweep confidence grows.
Focus Pads – 5min:
- 1min Rounds they will hold for each other. (Instructors need to teach them how to hold)
Sparring – 10min:
- 2 x 2min Rounds, Clinch & Knee
- 2 x 2min Rounds, Positional Escape
