Upper Cut & Guard Pull
Warm Up – 5min
- Line Drills
- 10 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats
- Punch Drill
Striking Development Lesson – 10min:
- Basic Footwork: Movement (Don Madge)
- Uppercut Rear Hand(Richie Quan)
- Essential Detail: Pre Load the Uppercut, By turning the left hip, shoulder and foot.
- Most Common Mistake: Over throwing or rotating where the fighters head is outside his front foot
- Partner Reminder: Hold the target (Pad or Glove) at the height of the fighters chin
- Safety Tip: Make sure your palm is facing you when you throw the punch
- Drill Orders: Practice as a shadow drill, then a partner drill
BJJ Development Lesson – 10min
- Pull Guard
- Indicator: Bully prevents you from controlling their hips after you close the distance.
- Essential Detail: Quick surprise pull on the opponents shoulders.
- Most Common Mistake: Ineffective handwork and punch protection from the guard.
- Safety Tip: Squat and shoot far back to minimise risk of the knee to the groin.
- Transfer Teaching Tip: Test their punch protection more intensely each time they succeed.
Noodle Work – 5min:
- 1min Rounds they will hold for each other. (Instructors need to teach them how to hold)
Sparring – 10min:
- 1 x 2min Rounds, Hands Only
- 1 x 2min Rounds, Kicks Only
- 2 x 2min Rounds, BJJ Pass or Sweep
