Push Kick Defence & Elbow Escape Mount

Warm Up – 5min

  • Line Drills
  • 10 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats
  • Kick Drill

Striking Development Lesson  – 10min:

  • Basic Footwork: Movement (Don Madge)
  • 50/50 Clinch & Pummel (Don Madge)
    • The first 2-minutes of the clinch is for general knowledge, there is no need to teach the whole lot, just what is relevant to the 50/50 clinch and pummel.
    • Essential Detail: Control the apex of the back of the head not the neck
    • Most Common Mistake: Too much space in the clinch
    • Drill Orders: Teach the position and test the position with a partner, then teach the Pummel

BJJ Development Lesson  – 15min:

Positional Control Side Mount

  • Roll Prevention / Super Base
    • Indicator: Bully attempts to roll you off side control.
    • Essential Detail: Solid front foot position.
    • Most Common Mistake: Incorrect startup hand positioning.
    • Safety Tip: Avoid crushing the child’s hand when you roll to the weak side.
    • Transfer Teaching Tip: Make your roll attempts stronger as the child’s base gets stronger
  • Guard Prevention
    • Indicator: Bully attempts to put you in their guard.
    • Essential Detail: Early recognition of guard attempt and quick hip switch.
    • Most Common Mistake: Weak leg positioning and weight distribution while hips are switched
    • Safety Tip: Make sure your shoulder doesn’t crush their hands during the movement.
    • Transfer Teaching Tip: From the hip-switch position, check the child’s base in all directions.
  • Mount Transition
    • Indicator: The bully exhausts and you want to achieve the mount.
    • Essential Detail: Effective hand base during the transition to the mount.
    • Most Common Mistake: Rushing to the mount before the crocodile exhausts.
    • Transfer Teaching Tip: Keep the child alert by testing their base during the mount transition.

Thai Pads- 5min:

  • 1min Rounds they will hold for each other. (Instructors need to teach them how to hold)

Sparring – 10min:

  • 4 x 2min Rounds, MMA
