Warm Up – 5min

- 10 Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats
- Kick Drill
Striking Development Lesson – 15min:
- Footwork: Gallop or Step Up Step Out (Stephen Whittier)
- Straight Knee – Lead, Switch and Rear (Don Madge)

- Essential Detail: Point the foot opposite to the direction of the knee
- Most Common Mistake: Not reaching across the body with the same hand that is kneeing
- Drill Orders: Start as a shadow drill then partner drill:
- Side for side
- Defence against a Leg Kick, Check & Knee
- Defence against a Punch, cover and return a knee

BJJ Development Lesson – 10min:
Punch Block 1-4
- Stage 1 Guard Monster / Head Hug
- Indicator: You have guard on the bully.
- Essential Detail: Maintain control of the monster’s head at all times.
- Most Common Mistake: Allowing your head to drop to the mat.
- Safety Tip: During the movement be careful not to head butt the child.
- Teaching Tip: Once the head control is solid, reach for the child’s face to confirm punch protection.
- Stage 1 Guard Monster / Guard Swim
- Indicator: The bully tries to push of your chest to create punching distance.
- Essential Detail: Swim with the arm on the same side as the pushup.
- Most Common Mistake: Releasing the head.
- Teaching Tip: As the child’s confidence grows, push more firmly to test control.
- Stage 2 Adults Only
- Stage 3
- Indicator: Bully sits up to generate more powerful punches.
- Essential Detail: Quick insertion of the knees with extended hips.
- Most Common Mistake: Ineffective drop to Stage 1 – no control, no face protection.
- Safety Tip: When returning to Stage 1, be cautious of an accidental head butt or elbow strike.
- Teaching Tip: Use open hand taps to confirm solid face protection during the drop.
- Stage 4
- Indicator: Bully stands up to throw punches.
- Essential Detail: Strong leg extension with good face protection.
- Most Common Mistake: Split drop instead of a controlled drop of your opponent.
- Safety Tip: Do not lean too aggressively at first.
- Teaching Tip: Increase your lean pressure more and more each time.
Thai Pads – 5min:
- 1min Rounds they will hold for each other. (Instructors need to teach them how to hold)
Sparring – 10min:
- 4 x 2min Rounds, General Striking (no head contact)
- 2 x 2min Rounds, General BJJ
