Biography:
Marcus is the founder of SASSOM Fitness & MMA, he has built the business from the ground up.
After teaching Martial Arts & training Thai Boxing fighters, Marcus decided to learn more about the human body and how to train it better. He enrolled in a Personal Training Course at a local Brisbane college. Marcus started training some clients as a hobby and the word spread that there was a Personal Trainer with passion and experience, so his hobby turned into a PT business. Marcus then joined his PT Business and Martial Arts coaching together and opened his first gym in Woolloongabba.
Marcus started Martial Arts in 1991, and has continued to train and develop his skills and knowledge since then. After obtaining his Black Belt in Zen Do Kai he become the head coach at his local Martial Arts Club. This gave him a lot of experience in how to push people to their limit, helping them to achieve things that they themselves never thought possible. Marcus is a Coach in Muay Thai, BJJ & MMA, he has competed in Boxing, Muay Thai Boxing, MMA and has competed against the best, in the biggest BJJ competitions all over Australia.
Passion:
Marcus believes the best thing about training people is seeing them do what they never believed they could do. To see the look on their face and the excitement that they have when they achieve their goals keeps Marcus coming back for more. Marcus developed an interest for rehabilitation after working with some of Brisbane’s best physiotherapists. Marcus now has the skills to train almost any client, with almost any injury, to assist them in getting back on track to achieve their goals.

Describe Your MMA Style: A combination of my BJJ & Muay Thai, heavy and strong, simple but effective techniques. I play a top game that is heavy & tight. I place as much pressure on my opponent as possible by getting a good position with great control and force them to make mistakes.
Competition History: 0/1/0 Unfortunately I was too old for competition by the time I started MMA, but I did have a crack when I was almost 40-years old. The fight was for an Amateur Title it was a good come back fight, I had fun, but lost by a split decision.

Describe Your BJJ Game: If I am on the bottom I get to the top, I play a top game that is heavy & tight. I believe in Control - Position - Easy Submission. I place as much pressure on my opponent as possible by getting a good position with great control and force them to make mistakes, then I take advantage of what they give me. The boys call it "Brut Jitsu".
