About Jayden Binnie

Position at SASSOM MMA
Assistant BJJ Coach & Personal Trainer

Biography:
I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Marcus Collings in late 2014. I immediately developed a passion for Jiu Jitsu and as a result commenced training a few times a week. In early 2015 I entered my first competition and immediately developed a hunger for competing.

Mid 2015 I started working for Marcus Collings as a school based trainee and began studying my Certificate III in fitness. As my love for BJJ and desire for competition success grew, I began competing and training as much as I possibly could, allowing me to take 1st place as a 15-year-old in the adult male division at the Queensland State Championships. During this time I also started my journey as an assistant Coach and Personal Trainer, learning and cultivating the skills to become an effective instructor. In December of 2015 I completed my Certificate III in Fitness and was awarded my Blue Belt by Marcus. I finished 2015 as the highest ranked BJJ Juvenile Competitor both Gi and No-Gi in Queensland.

Currently, I am studying my Certificate IV in fitness and have completed multiple BJJ coaching certifications under Infinity Martial Arts head coach Neil Owen. In addition to training seven days a week and competing frequently, I regularly coach and train adults as well as children at SASSOM.

Passion:
Although I love coaching and training everything from Olympic lifting to Hitting Pads, my true passion lies with Jiu Jitsu. The camaraderie among you and your training partners keeps you coming back and the confidence and skill you gain along the way is invaluable. You only get out what you put in because although you train as a team, you compete alone. The mats are a place no one can lie. No matter what your goals, BJJ will benefit you.
